Biologics PRF/PRP
PRF stands for Platelet Rich Fibrin, which is a newer generation of blood derived regenerative therapy. Its better known predecessor, PRP (platelet rich plasma) was first used by the dental community in the early 1970's to improve outcomes after bone grafts and root canals. During this procedure two tubes of blood are taken from the patient's arm and spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the part of the blood that carries growth factors, including Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF).
HOW CAN I BENEFIT FROM Biologics PRF/PRP?
The benefit of PRF over PRP is that the fibrous matrix slowly bathes the treated area with its growth factors over 8-10 days, instead of just 8-12 hours in the case of PRP. These growth factors regenerate the tissues where injected. An additional benefit to PRF over PRP is that ti is made without any chemical additives to the tube, it is purely your body's own product, and no heparin or gel barrier is present in the tubes.
