What is Kybella®?
A bit of extra fat in the upper throat area can cause the appearance of a "double chin" that may be unwanted to both men and women. KYBELLA® is the first nonsurgical procedure on the market for submental fat. The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is a synthetically made version of deoxycholic acid (DA), which works similarly to the natural DA in the body to break down and absorb fat cells. Once it is injected beneath the chin, you may see a visible reduction in fat. HOW DO KYBELLA® TREATMENTS WORK?
KYBELLA® is performed during an in-office appointment. We will often apply a numbing gel to the treated area if requested after the skin is clean. The injection lasts around 15 minutes, which comprises a few small injections into the upper neck area. Some patients may need one treatment to get to their desired look while others may need several injections spaced 3 – 4 weeks between each appointment at Skin Retouch MediSpa. After your procedure, you are able to leave our office when you are ready to resume your daily routine. You may notice temporary swelling, numbness, or bruising below your chin, but this shouldn't last longer than a few days. Call Skin Retouch MediSpa right away if you are noticing any unusual symptoms, including difficulty swallowing, facial muscle weakness, or if your facial expressions are uneven. While the fat that is eliminated will not return, the cells left over can get larger so you need to maintain a stable weight after your KYBELLA® injections to prevent new pockets of fat from developing. Optimal results after this procedure leave your neck appearing sleeker and slimmer, and your profile will be more defined.
